LIFT RIG Dog Harness

My dog ruptured his CCL and this was a HUGE help for him post surgery. We were able to carry him around easily. Very happy with this harness.

This review is written with complete honesty and deep appreciation.

First and foremost: this is NOT a bad harness — quite the opposite.
The LIFT RIG Dog Harness is excellently designed and constructed. The materials, stitching, padding, and hardware are all top-tier. It’s clear this product is thoughtfully engineered and built to a very high standard.

The limitation I experienced is related to a very specific and uncommon scenario. My dog is a 12-year-old American Akita with advanced arthritis, cauda equina, and significant loss of rear muscle mass. In real-life use (walking, lifting, resting, standing up again), the rear support section does not remain positioned behind the tail as intended. Instead, due to his long body and lack of rear muscle support, the rear straps gradually migrate outward toward the hind legs. This makes rear lifting uncomfortable and unstable for this very specific condition and anatomy.

This is not a general design flaw — it is a limitation that appears only under highly specific physical and neurological circumstances. For many dogs, I am confident this harness performs exactly as designed.

Espectacular!!!

This full body lift harness is extremely heavy duty, almost tactical in design. The fabric is thick and durable, the stitching is solid, and there’s even MOLLE style webbing on the back for attachments. It adjusts around the belly and along the length of the body, so you can get a truly customized fit. I also like that it includes two lift handles plus a longer, detachable carrying style handle. Since my dog is one of the top ten largest breeds, I wanted something he could get used to wearing now so it won’t bother him later when he needs more support, and this is definitely strong enough for a large or XL dog.

Where it falls short for me is everyday use. There are a lot of straps to manage, and the rear section isn’t detachable in a way that would let it convert into a simple walking harness. The top buckles can disconnect, but the lower portion is one continuous piece, so you can’t just remove the back half when you don’t need full body support. That means I still need a second harness for regular walks. The back handle and lifting strap are removable, but taking them off leaves loose straps and buckles that don’t secure anywhere, which makes it feel unfinished.

As a dedicated full support harness, it’s excellent and very well built. It’s just not practical as a daily harness, so it works best if you plan to use all of its lifting features.
